On 5 September 2024, the Department of Industry, Science and Resources released a
proposals paper on introducing mandatory guardrails for AI in high-risk settings.
In response, Home Affairs provided a submission to contribute to the development of the safeguards and inform public consideration of the safe and responsible use of AI, as well as highlight Home Affairs’ ongoing efforts to balance AI risk with AI opportunity.
