Accessing guest Wi-Fi
These instructions are for users who need to access the Department of Home Affairs guest Wi-Fi from non-departmental devices. Guest Wi-Fi is available at all Home Affairs onshore locations.
Step 1: Request account creation
To use the guest Wi-Fi, an account first needs to be created. Email the below details to your departmental contact so that they can create an account for you:
- Your name
- Your company name
- Your email address.
A valid email address is required to complete the account creation process.
Step 2: Receive email notification
Once your account has been created, you will receive an email from your departmental contact with your account information. This will include a username (the email address you provided), and a 6 digit password.
You will be required to read and acknowledge the terms and conditions of use via the link provided in the email.
Step 3: Connect to Polaris guest Wi-Fi
iPhone user instructions
- Go to your device’s Home Screen and select Settings
- In Settings, select and enable Wi-Fi
- Select Polaris from the Wi-Fi options shown
- At the prompts, enter your username (your email) and the password that was sent to you, and click Join
- On the Wi-Fi screen, if successful, Polaris will appear at the top of the list
- If the connection is unsuccessful, repeat the steps above or contact your departmental sponsor for advice.
Android Phone user instructions
- On your device’s Home screen, select Settings
- On the Settings screen, select Network & Internet
- Select Internet
- Select enable Wi-Fi and select Polaris
- At the prompts, enter your username (your email) and the password that was sent to you, and click Connect.
Note - Do not change any other settings in the menu - On the Wi-Fi screen, if successful, Polaris will appear at the top of the screen
- If the connection is unsuccessful, repeat the above steps or contact your departmental sponsor.
