Jarrod Howard

​Jarrod Howard was appointed as Deputy Commissioner, Strategy and Capability Group on 28 April 2025.​

​As Deputy Commissioner, Jarrod has responsibility for the Strategy and Capability Group which brings together policy, strategy and capability development to modernise the border and plan and deliver capability uplift and sustainment across trade, travel, civil maritime, and ABF workforce domains.​

​Jarrod previously held the role of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Customer Service Delivery at Services Australia and was responsible for delivering health, child support and social welfare services together with managing the Agency’s operational emergency response. He has also held positions in the agency across Face-to-Face Services, Health, Aged Care and Veterans Modernisation, and managed the Health Programs Division during the Covid-19 Pandemic.​

​​Jarrod also served for nearly seventeen years in the Department of Defence as an Army Officer and an official in the Australian Public Service. He joined the Army in December 2003 and was commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery. He began his career in the Australian Public Service in 2008.​
