The Department of Home Affairs contributes to the Australian Government’s security arrangements for Australian high office holders and visiting foreign dignitaries. These arrangements are in place to ensure they are safe as they carry out their work in Australia.
This includes responsibility for physical security infrastructure at Commonwealth Official Establishments (the Prime Minister’s Lodge, and Kirribilli, Admiralty and Government Houses), and the residences and electorate offices of Australian High Office Holders (AHOHs) and parliamentarians deemed to be ‘at risk’. The Department also coordinates national security arrangements for declared special events.
