The Australian Government is investing $1.3 million over 3 years from 2025-26 to support Independent Multicultural Media Australia (IMMA).
The purpose of the grant is to:
- expand the capability and capacity of the independent multicultural media sector through tailored training and support to create sustainability and media diversity
- foster and enhance advocacy efforts for the multicultural media sector, including research, developing policy recommendations and working with the Government to address sector-specific issues
- increase representation of independent multicultural media amongst the Government and industry in Australia.
IMMA represents a number of independent multicultural media outlets in print, radio, television and digital media. Its members report in Greek, Italian, Chinese, Jewish, Vietnamese, Indian, Pakistani, Arabic, Indonesian, Indian, Persian, African and Bangladeshi languages.
