To address the social cohesion impacts of the Hamas-Israel conflict in Australia, the Australian Government has introduced several initiatives.
Community concerns have helped to inform these funding measures. They prioritise immediate needs and longer-term impacts felt across communities in Australia.
Support to Australian Palestinian, Muslim and other communities
Home Affairs is investing $25 million to support Australian Palestinian, Muslim and other communities affected by the conflict in the Middle East. This will go towards a range of national and local programs, including:
- the Australian Palestinian, Muslim and Arab Communities (APMAC) Support Projects open competitive grant opportunity
- the Community Cohesion and Support Program (CCSP) grant opportunity to support community-led grassroots programs
- national programs combating racism, Islamophobia and reducing misinformation and disinformation
- national programs focusing on youth affected by the conflict
- local social cohesion projects.
