This grant is part of the Government’s Modernised Multicultural Grant Program.
The Australian Government is investing up to $41.6 million to support multicultural communities with facilities to promote connection.
You can use this grant funding to construct, upgrade or extend infrastructure that demonstrates benefits to multicultural communities. This may include:
- community hubs and centres
- museums, libraries and art spaces
- indoor and outdoor amenities, including food preparation areas, dining spaces, bathrooms and barbecue facilities
- meeting and conference facilities
- stages, auditoriums and spaces to encourage performing arts
- spaces for sporting and physical activities.

Apply for only one batch
You can submit an application for either batch 1 or batch 2.
- Batch 1 is open for applications until 4:00PM AEST on 18 May 2026.
- Batch 2 is open for applications after 4:00pm AEST on 18 May 2026 and before 4:00 pm AEDT on 12 November 2026.
Note there are different application forms for Batch 1 and Batch 2. If your application has not been submitted by 4:00PM AEST on 18 May 2026 when Batch 1 closes, you will need to start a new application for Batch 2.
Streams of funding
There are 3 streams of funding for this grant opportunity. You can apply for only one stream based on the type of infrastructure project you want to fund. See Table 1 for the minimum and maximum grant amounts and types of projects.

Co-contributions
You will be required to contribute towards the total value of your project as set out in Table 2.

Project commencement
To be eligible for this grant, your project
must not have started. If your application relates to a particular phase or part of a larger project, then this phase or part must not have started before you are offered a grant.
Priority groups and projects
The following groups and projects will be prioritised for funding:
- new and emerging multicultural communities, as defined below
- projects focused on achieving positive outcomes for multicultural women, multicultural LGBTIQA+ community members, and multicultural people with a disability.
If you apply as a priority group or project but are assessed not to be a priority group or project, your application will not progress to the next phase. More information on these priority groups is available in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
The department is unable to provide you with advice on whether your organisation or project will meet these requirements.
Infrastructure maintenance
The funding is for delivery of infrastructure projects only. This grant opportunity cannot fund the ongoing delivery of services, or the use, upkeep and maintenance of the completed building. Section 5 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines provides further information on what funding can and cannot be used for.
Attachments
You must provide the following attachments with your application:
- budget on the mandatory template
- project plan and risk management plan on the mandatory template
- evidence of land ownership or approval from the landowner to complete the project.
