Community Funding to Support Social Cohesion Initiatives

To address the social cohesion impacts of the Hamas-Israel conflict in Australia the Australian Government is introducing a number of initiatives.

These funding measures are informed by community concerns. They prioritise immediate needs as well as the longer-term impacts felt across communities in Australia.

The Department of Home Affairs is providing $25 million to support Australian Palestinian, Muslim and other communities affected by the Hamas-Israel conflict. This will go towards a range of national and local programs. These include:

  • $4 million for the Community Cohesion and Support Program (CCSP) grant opportunity to support community-led grassroots programs
  • over $4 million for local social cohesion projects
  • $7 million for national programs combatting racism, Islamophobia and reducing misinformation and disinformation
  • $2 million for national programs focusing on youth affected by the conflict.

The Government is currently considering community feedback on the remaining funding under this Package. Information on further funding under this Package will be available shortly.
