In modern multicultural Australia, all people regardless of their cultural and linguistic background, should have the opportunity to:
- participate fully in the community
- contribute meaningfully to our society; and
- feel they belong
Australia’s multicultural diversity is a fundamental aspect of our identity, and a source of our national strength and vitality.
The Government is committed to the three core principles set out in Multicultural Framework Review report,
Towards Fairness – a multicultural Australia for all:
- Connection – setting the foundations of a multicultural Australia through leadership, planning, and accountability between three tiers of government and communities.
- Identity and belonging – creating a welcoming Australia through English language programs, citizenship policy, and participation in arts, culture, sports, and media.
- Inclusion – building cultural capability into public services, modernising grant programs, ensuring digital inclusion, ensuring a sustainable language services sector, and meeting the unique needs of young people and regional areas.
