Consultation on the Independent Review of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (SOCI Act) is a principles-based framework that was introduced to strengthen the government’s capacity to manage the national security risks of espionage, sabotage and coercion arising from foreign involvement in Australia’s critical infrastructure. 

The SOCI Act applies to 11 sectors of critical infrastructure, and applies numerous positive security obligations across critical infrastructure assets.

Section 60A of the SOCI Act requires an Independent Review be conducted into the ‘operation’ of the Act. Dr Jill Slay AM was ​appointed as the Independent Reviewer.
