If you submit this travel request, the department will assess your eligibility for a Humanitarian Stay (Temporary) (subclass 449) visa. A subclass 449 visa allows you to leave and return to Australia. However, please note that:
- the department recommends that you seek advice from a registered migration agent or legal practitioner before confirming that you would like to be considered for the grant of a Humanitarian Stay (Temporary) (subclass 449) visa.
- before a Humanitarian Stay (Temporary)(subclass 449) visa can be assessed, the Minister (or delegate) must first agree to make you an offer.
- we strongly encourage you not to make travel arrangements until this request is resolved.
- where applicable, the department will finalise travel requests and subsequent subclass 449 visa applications as soon as practicable after the subclass 449 visa offer is accepted.
Current Temporary Humanitarian Concern (subclass 786) visa holders should also consider that:
- if the Minister (or delegate) declines to make an offer, or you do not meet the criteria for the grant of a subclass 449 visa, your subclass 786 visa will remain in effect
- the grant of a Subclass 449 visa will cause your subclass 786 visa to cease
- by making this request, you are acknowledging that you understand that Humanitarian Stay (Temporary) (subclass 449) visa holders may not be eligible for some Australian Government services that were available to you as the holder of a Temporary Humanitarian Concern (subclass 786) visa.

To make a travel request, and to be considered for a subclass 449 visa for travel purposes, please complete the relevant fields below and provide documentation where requested.
Returning to Australia on a subclass 449 visa
The department recommends you return at least six weeks prior to the cease date of the subclass 449 visa to allow sufficient time for the department to consider your eligibility for a further subclass 449 or 786 visa. The notification letter, given to you when a subclass 449 visa is granted for travel, will provide your visa validity date.
It is your responsibility to remain lawful while in Australia. You should notify the department immediately upon your return to Australia by emailing
Onshore.Hum.Visa.Pathway@homeaffairs.gov.au. Following receipt of your notification, the department will review your circumstances and, where appropriate, arrange for the relevant Minister to consider you for a further visa offer.
