The Certificate II in Aviation Transport Protection is a specific qualification for screening officers and must be delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO). For the qualification to be recognised under the
Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005, certain pre-conditions need to be met by the RTO.
These pre-conditions are:
- RTO to have proof of access to security-controlled airport facilities (the workplace).
- RTO to seek access to the National Assessment Tool (assessment resources for four of the units of competence) from the Department.
- If granted access, the RTO will use the National Assessment Tool to develop the training resources prior to applying for approval by the
Australian Skills Quality Authority to deliver the qualification.
- RTO trainer/assessor to train and assess participants at security-controlled airports, using training resources that comply with the National Assessment Tool, where mandated for a unit of competence.
Unless developed and assessed with the National Assessment Tool, provided conditionally by the Department, the qualification is not recognised by the Secretary as equivalent to the Certificate II in Security Operations.
