The Australian Consulate in Sarajevo has no visa function. Our office in Vienna, Austria, manages visa and citizenship services for clients in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Kosova, Slovak Republic and Slovenia.

It has a Service Delivery Partner (SDP) agreement with TLScontact to provide biometrics collection services in Bosnia and Herzegovina through an Australian Biometric Collection Centre.

Australian Embassy



This office provides immigration and visa services to clients in Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Slovak Republic and Slovenia.

Permanent visa applications from clients currently residing in Kosovo can also be lodged at the Australian Embassy in Belgrade.​​

Credit card is the preferred payment option.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​


You can pay by cash in Euros (EUR) only at the embassy counter. We cannot accept payments in cash in Australian dollars (AUD).​

​Making payment in Australia

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

Applications for Citizenship by Descent are processed by the Australian High Commission in London.​​

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Note: Bosnia-Herzegovina authorities do not issue certificates to non-citizens, regardless of their period of stay.

Relevant document: Applicants are required to provide two certificates:

  • ‘Certificate of No Convictions’ (Uvjerenje o nekaznjavanju) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP).
  • Certificate (Uvjerenje) from the Municipal Court (Opcinski sud/Osnovni sud) at place of the applicant’s last residence.

Citizen residents:
  • Apply for a Certificate of No Convictions (Uvjerenje o nekaznjavanju) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) at your place or residence or place of birth.
  • Apply for a Certificate (Uvjerenje) from the Municipal Court (Opcinski sud/Osnovni sud) at your last place of residence.

Citizen non-residents: Applicants can authorise a representative in Bosnia-Herzegovina to apply for the above certificates on your behalf.

Non-citizens residents:
  • apply for a Certificate (Uvjerenje) from the Municipal Court (Opcinski sud/Osnovni sud) at place of the applicant’s current residence
  • Bosnia-Herzegovina authorities do not issue Certificates of No Convictions (Uvjerenje o nekaznjavanju) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) to non-citizens (residents), regardless of their period of stay

Non-citizens non-residents:
  • Bosnia-Herzegovina authorities do not issue certificates to non-citizens (non-residents), regardless of their period of stay

Provide: Application form, ID card, birth certificate or citizenship certificate. You can obtain the application form at a police station or court.
