Cyber security

Cyber security is important for Australia's national security, innovation, and prosperity.

We firmly believe the strength of our future cyber security workforce rests on our ability to harness the full potential of Australia's diverse talent pool. Partnering with businesses, education providers and the research community, we want to encourage more women to choose a career in cyber security.

Australia's Cyber Security Strategy identified that Australia's cyber security workforce suffers from low participation from women. Worldwide, only 10 per cent of information security professionals are women. The Australian Government is working with a range of government, private sector and research community stakeholders to understand the causes and to take action to increase women's participation in cyber security careers.
