The 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy (the Strategy) outlines Australia’s vision for a flourishing cyber industry, enabled by a diverse and professional cyber workforce. The cyber security industry has an opportunity to tap into a broader pool of applicants. This will help to meet the current and emerging need for talent and bring valued diversity of thought and experience.
Action 17 of the Strategy notes Government will publish guidance for recruiters to attract a wider diversity of applicants, supporting workforce growth and participation. To fulfill this commitment, the Department of Home Affairs in collaboration with the Behavioural Economics Team of the Australian Government (BETA), has developed
Inclusive Cyber Security Recruitment Guidance (Guidance).
This Guidance is for organisations who want to recruit cyber security talent from a broader pool of applicants. It helps to attract and recruit:
- women
- First Nations people
- neurodivergent people.
The Guidance provides evidence-based actions to attract and recruit more inclusively. Business of all sizes can use the information in this guide for a range of cyber security roles.
