Commonwealth Child Migration Scheme - summary

This information is for you if you arrived in Australia under the Commonwealth Child Migration Scheme. You must have arrived between 22 September 1947 and 31 December 1967 without your parents.

To get evidence of your child migrant status, contact the Child Migrants Trust.

Eligibility - ensure you hold an Australian permanent visa, meet the residence requirement and are of good character.

Documents - gather your identity documents, good character documents and evidence of your arrival in Australia under the Commonwealth Child Migration scheme.

Apply - to receive the fee exemption you cannot apply online.

Appointment - we will write to you if you need to take the citizenship test or have an interview.

Ceremony - make the Australian Citizenship Pledge after you receive an invitation to a ceremony.


You will not have to pay an application fee to apply for Australian citizenship.
