When will the regulations and other material required to implement the ChAFTA be made available?

In line with well-established parliamentary practice we have worked with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel to draft the ChAFTA Regulations following the introduction of the ChAFTA Bills into Parliament on 16 September 2015.

The regulations are tabled in both Houses of Parliament for scrutiny and once agreed the Department of Home Affairs will register them on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments where they will be available for public examination.

The regulations themselves will be very similar to those implemented for previous free trade agreements. The one significant variable will be the table incorporating the product specific rules (PSRs). The PSRs are available for public examination as they are part of the ChAFTA treaty text and can be found on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade ChAFTA website at (Annex II: Product Specific Rules of Origin).
