Allegations of sexual and other serious assaults
On Tuesday 23 July 2013, the SBS
Dateline television program broadcast allegations about sexual and other serious assaults at the Manus Offshore Processing Centre.
The former Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Martin Bowles PSM, commissioned an independent review into these allegations by Robert Cornall AO, a former Secretary of the Attorney-General's department.
Mr Cornall presented his review to the Department in late September 2013.
Events of 16-18 February 2014
The former Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Mr Martin Bowles PSM, initiated an independent review into the events of 16 - 18 February 2014 at the Manus Regional Processing Centre. Mr Bowles asked Mr Robert Cornall AO, a former Secretary of the Attorney-General's Department, to conduct this review and report back by April 2014, or such other dates as may be negotiated.
Mr Cornall presented his review to the department on 23 May 2014.
